We love discussing wedding trends! Let us know in the comments what you hope to see for weddings in 2022!
When thinking of wedding trends for the year, I always start with one thing: the Pantone Color of the Year. To me, this not only dictates the obvious, color trends, but whether or not we'll generally see color in weddings or if we'll see more of a neutral palate. This also gives a hint as to the "vibe" we'll see for weddings (that's what the kids call it, right?). Think back to 2003 (Aqua) and 2005 & 2010 (Turquoise)...everyone loved using that Tiffany Blue as their wedding signature color. Last year, Ultimate Gray was the Pantone Color of the Year which feels very industrial and modern, which was often reflected in invitation suites and signage for weddings. Color is a huge influence on weddings. 2022's Pantone Color of the Year is Very Peri.
I love this color for a variety of reasons - blue is a classic! And the subtle lavender undertone gives this color some depth and calmness. How do I expect to see this color incorporated in weddings and events in 2022? There's lots of ways! Whether it be china and glassware, textured linens, floral, or even in bridal attire, it's sure to make a statement. We love to see that "something blue" come out in events.
This year I believe we will start to see larger celebrations come back. With the way the world has been the past two years, people are ready to get out of the house and have a big time again! Think weekend long celebrations vs. small intimate weddings. Rehearsal Dinners will turn into Welcome Parties, maybe you'll even see themed Kick Off Parties on Thursday nights for early destination guests, activities on wedding days, and big Brunches on Sundays. With that being said, I also believe we'll see a lot of themed events too with encouraging specific attire for some of these events. Think of fun and bold events that are themed with the wedding destination in mind or with a focus on the couple's hobbies and interests.
Weddings will continue to play into the feel of all things whimsical and romantic. Think very Bridgerton meets Taylor Swift woodland aesthetic. Large sleeves on bridal gowns and unique bridal headpieces with mixtures of light airy colors with dark contrasting colors.
In order to achieve this woodland aesthetic, expect to see a lot of hanging florals whether it be at the ceremony site or the reception. Floral trends this year will also include more dried flowers. Lush garden-inspired looks will continue to be very popular.
