Updated: Aug 5, 2021

Cotton Hall is literally just a hop and a skip away from a plethora of many exciting outings. Whether you're looking for a day trip or even just a ride up the road, when you stay with us at the Inn at Cotton Hall, there is a wide variety of things to do that will make you feel like a local.

Down the Road

While many visit for the history, they stay for the charm. We are just 2.5 miles away from the Old Sheldon Church Ruins.

Old Sheldon Church Ruins were originally known as Prince William's Parish Church and was built between 1745 and 1753. The walls were made of Flemish bond and were three and one half foot thick. The church was burned by the British in 1779 during the Revolutionary War and was rebuilt in 1826. In 1865, Sherman and his army burned the church again in his march through the south, just as they had done to the original home at Cotton Hall.

Now the ruins proudly stand along and are a sight to be seen. Many people stop here along their travels and take in the beautiful scene.

Even further up the road, you'll find many delicious eats and sweets. Just 8.7 miles away from Cotton Hall is the ever adorable Carolina Cider Company. Stop in and enjoy a selection of house-canned jams and homemade pies, Be sure to sample the Peach Cider! This roadside stand is full of charm and you'll be sure to leave with a full belly and full heart.

While traveling through "Garden's Corner" as the locals call it, head on down to the friendly farmstand called Lowcountry Produce and only 8.4 miles away. When you walk in, you'll be greeted by chicken and the sound of the clap of a screened door as locals exit the building. While somewhat similar to Carolina Cider Co., Lowcountry Produce offers seasonal fresh produce from their gardens, canned items, jams, housewares, grab-and-go food items, alongside a full breakfast and lunch menu. Lowcountry Produce has been featured on Oprah's "O List" along with other publications such as Garden and Gun. You can't go wrong with ordering fresh doughnuts or a delicious breakfast biscuit.
